Craigmont, Idaho 3 October 2011 IGS Annual Conference
Thank you kindly to Shelley Kuther, President of the Ilo-Vollmer Genealogical Society, and the IVGS who kindly hosted our annual event. We had two wonderful speakers, a 2011 Esto Perpetua award winner gave an amazing lecture about his bountiful knowledge in necrogeographical studies. We were amazed at his research and appreciated his humorous and informative stories. Who knew why some people were buried facing west, or why older cemeteries could possibly contain a ton of arsenic if tested? Steve Branting's lecture alone made the drive north well worth the trip.
We also had the wonderful Jean Timmermeister, President of the Kootenai County Genealogical Society, give us some tips as to what makes an organization thrive. As you probably already know... it's the people. She showered kindness on those she served with and amongst. As many of us know, genealogy is truly about the relationships you build, past, present, and future. Thank you Jean for coming! You inspired us all to take, just one thing, if anything, and use it to inspire us in our genealogy endeavors.
Our wonderful newly voted-in President of the Idaho Genealogical Society, Juvanne Martin, introduced us to the 1940 U.S. Census that will be released to the public in a few months. A short film from the National Archives & YouTube was shown. See one of the videos at :

We hope to see you all next year!!!
