Cemetery Visits
We got to 3 cemeteries on Wednesday & took pics of graves. The one of my great grandmother did not have a stone : very sad.
Found an unknown person in a family plot, giving me another mystery to solve.
Used the Billion Graves app on my phone & would recommend it for uploading pics
Also will add the pics to findagrave.com
Plan to go to New York City tomorrow.

Genealogy Vacation
Next week I travel to New York, home of my Dad's ancestors. They immigrated from Ireland & Germany. Most of the families are still living in NY,CT & NJ.
Plan to visit Long Island City, where my Grandparents met & married.
Also on my agenda is Calvary Cemetery: with 3 million graves it is NY City's largest .

Favorite Class @ RootsTech
Sorry has been so long since I have blogged. Would like to share my favorite class @ RootsTech: No Purchase Necessary: Free Genealogy Topls for your iPad/iPhone
Devin Ashby gave this presentation reminding us that there are also apps for Android devices.
Remember to use apps that come with your device: notes, voice memo, camera, maps, & screen shot. If you don't know how to capture what's on your screen just hold the home botton down while simultaneously pusihing the power button & you'll have an image in your photo gallery.
Great apps for family history:
1. Dropbox, Files, Google Drive, & iCloud: for storage
2. Dragon (Dictation & Recorder): for speech to text transcriptions & to record audio files
3. iDownloader; capture videos & other files
4. AppsFire: keeps you up to date with new apps
5. Evernote: organization
6. Google Voice: creates a free internet phone number to make calls & text for free
7. Talkatone: free calling from your iPad or iPod
8. Saving Memories Forever: record living memories.
We had a wonderful time @ RootsTech. Please visit the site www.RootsTech.org
