HEAR ABOUT EARLY STEAMBOATS
ON THE CLEARWATER AND SNAKE RIVERS
The general public is invited to a meeting of the Lewis County Historical Society on Sept. 19 at 1:00 P.M. in Nezperce, Idaho, at the Nezperce Community Center located at 602 -4th Ave. Participants will hear Carole Simon-Smolinski share her information on early steamboats plying the Clearwater and Snake Rivers. She is also the author of the book “Hells Canyon and the Middle Snake River. Anyone with an interest in the history of our local area and steam boats is urged to attend. There is no admission cost.
The presentation will be followed by the regular meeting of the Lewis County Historical Society. The Society is an umbrella organization of the historical societies in Kamiah, Nezperce, Craigmont, and Winchester. A presentation of each museum’s activities will be presented. Other agenda items include each museum’s participation in the 100th Birthday celebration of Lewis County during the annual Lewis County Fair to be held on Sept. 29, 30, and Oct 1; the selection of a nomination committed to nominate new officers for the next year. The election will be at the next meeting on Nov. 21.
